Academic Legacy
"Joseph Greaves served his alma mater, Utah State, brilliantly for 44 years. He was the first teacher-researcher at Utah State University to attain national and international stature as a scientist and, of course, his university shared in this recognition." (Emil Mrak, 1983)
Dr. Greaves led the Department of Bacteriology and Biochemistry at Utah State Agricultural College from 1913 to 1951, building institutional strength and expanding the field of bacteriology. He published three textbooks and over 200 scholarly articles. He laid the foundations and strengthened the institution, and in 1957 Utah State University became a fully accredited university. |
